Do you remember what size you used for the rivet? Based on the size of the second drift it looks like around 13 or 11 mm but maybe I'm wrong and it's closer to 9 or 10.

I am always amazed how much the stock reduces in volume during the forging process. All that shit flying off when you hit it, is it steel that gets wasted or some kind of slag / impurity being driven out by the compacting of the steel? 😮

i wonder how deep are those fire pots to put that much of steel and get them to forge weld heat? and probably same volume of coals under neath metal are on top, just a big pile?

I really hope you to repost all the tutorial videos that you deleted, because we should not care about negative comments from rude people and forget about those who really need your helpful knowledge to blacksmithing in particular and society in general. Silly question: How precise do the two ends have to be in relation to each other? Better way of asking: how sloppy can the parts be and still weld without getting too mad at it?

Just watched this. Great Idea with the 60% angle swage. I think that would work on some 1" square Wrought Iron fence post. Hard to keep it from coming apart when working it. Thank you.

I believe the shoulders behind the bosses are used in combination with a lock ring to wedge the tongs in place and have a work holding capability
